its chemically identical. Technically it is carbon neutral as it is re-cycling the carbon that was produced in making the gasoline.

The particular use for his process is innovative in the sense of now he has it powered through solar. Mostly the industry doesn't mess around with microwave pyrolysis because it is energetically costly. However, looking at it through the lens of eliminating plastic waste it is a net positive. Especially when combined with solar.

this was a huge problem when I went to a plastic recycling conference

an indian man spoke up during a QA and said: "you can turn the plastic into other forms of plastic, but you still are pulling it out of the ground. So the net plastic is always increasing even with fancy recyclers"

this is different though if financial feasible
