I worked with "at risk youth" for about 5 years, when you are in the mix that long consistently you'll see the change and growth in them and that's encouraging to stay in the mix, if you're a skidbidder you might get discouraged taking their behavior at face value.

I seen majority of the volunteers phase out pretty quickly, most in a matter of a couple months which in that timeframe you wont see a ton of change from a knucklehead who's really dug into their protective shield they wear which manifests as rude and abrasive and confrontational, but I'll say I do understand these kids apprehension cause I definitely have seen kids get exploited and tossed aside once certain people got what they needed from being involved in this particular center, if you're going to volunteer, especially with youth, dont make promises you dont have intentions of keeping, you're doing more damage than good.
