It's about time I got my health right brehs. I'm 30 with a two year old boy and I'm at the biggest I ever been (300). I do not want..I need to drop this shit. Posting this on the Coli kinda forces me to stick with this as this is a site I visit all the time (over 10 years). With the motivation of my brother's good or bad I believe this time next year I will have changed myself completely. I do not want to start today as I want to start fasting into tomorrow and eat completely clean. It's been awhile since I been on a real diet I used to do keto and that was cool but shopping for that is kind of annoying. So, here are some issues I face...

Gym: This is a no go as I work nights and my wife works in the morning it's just me and the kid till then. I already don't get enough sleep as is. I am willing to do at home workouts.

Money: Niggas ain't broke but don't recommend me nothing that cost 200$ or a whole rack come on now..

Mental: I'm not crazy or no weird shit like that but I can be an emotionally roller coaster (I've been trying to find God more) I don't want something to piss me off and I go eat something to cope.

So, here we go. Only thing I know for sure is I will be fasting and counting calories.. I should mention what I do for work! I do not sit around in an office I am a CNA moving your 320 pound memaw who doesn't turn and just shit. I am constant running around answering call lights (usually about nothing) so my job is active. I don't wanna die young and miss certain events in my son's life cause a nigga liked a biggie bag a bit too much.

I will be the first success story of the new coli.

I recently got a physical and my doctor told me that I was both flabby and sick

Eventually Ima start working out but I got some tiramisu in the fridge calling my name

Download myfitness pal and use the suggested calories as a starting point.

If you can afford get some adjustable dumbells, a weight vest, an adjustable bench, and a walking pad/standing desk treadmill (you can get steps
In while your som watching tv or something).

Where should I start looking first? Amazon?

Amazon for everything, the dumbbells you can maybe do a sporting goods store too.

I have these

And bought the expansion, and they held me down during Covid when I was waiting to build my home gym.

I wouldn't cheapen out you need to be there for your son, so you can maybe do it bit by bit or if you got it but everything will probably run you close to 1k +/- because you want a treadmill that can support your weight, or if you dont do the treadmill go on walks with your son if he is stroller size you can go to the track at a local high school and just walk it 4 times (thats 1 mile).

Diet will be key as I assume you were never an athlete as 300 and little muscle vs 300 with a lot of muscle (you still fat) kinda hits different. The diet alone will drop the pounds, you want to lift weights so you dont just become skinny fat.

The weighted vest will be good for air squats + push ups + resistance on your walks if you do outdoor walks

the Dumbells give versatility and if you do that route + the expansion weights as you get stronger you may not need the weight vest.

For a diet I'll pretty much will be eating chicken as that's kind of all we eat as a family anyway. No soda,no juice,no sweet coffee. I will be drinking water with zero calories drink mix. If I do want a soda it will be sparkling water. As far as a snack it will be beef jerky and tuna etc rice cakes.

Uou need to count calories

If you're about that life and want to track your food intake, download macrofactor.

No, it isn't free. Use code MFER for 2 week free trial

It's science based, Macro centric. Plug your details in, and watch the magic happen. And it works. I've been using it a year now and have seen progress, but my lack of discipline keeps pulling me back to the trenches. But it works .

But yes. You do have to pay for it.

There is a cracked APK of it, if you're about that life... But you can't take photos of barcodes to log the food in.

For home workouts, I use ddp yoga. You pay for it... But, there's a free workaround...

It's amazing. I'm on week 6 and I can feel my the soreness lessen week by week. I haven't deviated from any of the workouts either. Always tried to give it my all but sometimes I do be breathing heavily though.

Damn, I'm going to have to try this then.

Today I'm officially locked in..haven't ate since 8pm and won't eat till noon. Being at work right now helps with my late night eating and I just drink my 64 oz bottle with one of my drink mix packets. Cooked last night so got air fried wings and veggies waiting for me at noon. Just gotta download those calories tracker apps

I was over 300 pounds got to 240 and now I’m back up to 263 all in The span of 3 and half years.

Best advice I can give: start building muscle for a month or so before you really start focusing on losing weight . You don’t want to end up looking like this:

images

Also, at your weight, you need to ease into running, jogging, or even power walking otherwise, you risk tearing something.

Here’s what I suggest for equipment:

trx-all-in-one suspension training system. This is what I used at the gym when I first started working out. It alleviates weight on your joints and helps maintain a proper form. Like I said before You do not want to get injured or tear some shit at that weight and age.

Adjustable dumbbells – look for cheap second-hand on OfferUp first if you can’t find anything then get regular ones on Amazon.

Ankle weights

Protein powder - grab something like this now, then buy protein powder in bulk on Black Friday/Cyber Monday from the vitamin shoppe or gnc on clearance that will last close to a year to save money. Buying protein powder is something you gonna have to bite the bullet on unless you want to look like the pic above.

All of this should cost a little under $200 on Amazon Prime Day (7th–8th). But eventually like another poster said, if you dont plan on going to the gym long-term, you’ll have to buy a barbell, plates, and an adjustable bench.

Here’s some Workout routines to start off with:

TRX:
  • Chest & arms: push-ups, chest press, triceps extensions, biceps curls
  • Back & shoulders: rows, face pulls, reverse flys, Y-raises
  • Legs & glutes: squats, lunges, hamstring curls, hip thrusts
  • Core: planks, rollouts, mountain climbers

Dumbbells:
  • Floor press,
  • floor flys
  • Shoulder press (use a chair)
  • Lateral raises

Ankle weights:
  • Donkey kicks,
  • side-lying leg lifts,
  • straight leg raises,
  • lying leg curls

Start with 3 sets of 12 reps per exercise, work up to 15 by the end of the month, THEN start doing cardio and fasting. Consistency is key.

Diet:

You can Drink other beverages besides sparkling water like Crystal Light or zero-sugar soda(coke, sprite, root beer). Take Fiber supplements if you’re not eating a lot of high-fiber foods.

I need to drop 40 lbs too. I'm with you my brother in Christ. Do you wanna post daily? What we ate and whatever we did for fitness for the day? It would keep us accountable to each other.
Actually yeah this would be nice.
I'll be on this kick once Thanksgiving(🇨🇦🍁) is over. Time to lock in and quit just tryna lose .5-1lbs a week lol
This a good way to do it too get that last big ass good ass meal in then get to work.

I don't think I'm eating enough for my dinner nigga be starving during that night shift. Gotta figure something out so far rocky start. Maybe just chicken and broccoli idk

replace 1-2 meals w/ lean proteins

try eating 2 regular meals but replace the 3rd w/ lean protein. like if u are normally eating some 900 calorie breakfast, replacing that w/ boiled egg whites & Canadian bacon would be a huge calorie reduction of like 700 calories a day. u could still eat regular the other 2 meals.

the lean Protein would help you reduce your overall calories, stay full, and reduce hair shedding due to weight loss

my last tip would be not to plan to lose the weight extremely quickly. I would plan for like 18 to 24 months. You don't need to go full keto or full volume eating or anything you just need a reduction in calories that leads to you losing weight.

Just weighed myself (probably should of been did that) 309 is crazy work.. I'm going to run down my meals today been fasting 8 to 8 which just works around my life easier I'm basically eating breakfast and lunch with my son (which can be anything boiled eggs or chicken wings who knows) then dinner when my wife gets home. It's nothing in the house for me to get the urge to go crazy on.

What’s your weakness?
Alcohol?
Sugar?
Carbs?

(All the same thing)

Or late night eating?

I’d start by addressing that. Where can you cut back? What can you substitute? What can you change?

Make sure you have a step counter and set a goal and hit it everyday. Look at the patterns of your movements. Your weight issue could be as simple as being active M-F and then sitting on your couch eating all weekend.

I would also consider weighing yourself at the same time, in the same location. For accurate numbers

Also. As I mentioned before. Macrofactor will be such a big help.

AI features don't work though.

That’s what protein powder is for.

2 protein shakes and breakfast (assuming you eat eggs) and chicken for dinner is around 145–150 grams of protein a day.

You recommended a good one what flavor do you be getting?

Definitely late night eating I worth night shift and even on my days off I'm up late at night just munching on shit.

You recommended a good one what flavor do you be getting?

from the one I recommended you? Vanilla, French vanilla, vanilla bean are good options. I don’t really go to crazy on flavors though.

2 scoops of protein with almond milk( sweetened or unsweetened it doesn’t matter) twice a day.

I already only drink almond milk so this will work out. I'm going to buy some breh thanks.

What's wrong with fasting it's a well known method. Pretty much recommended by any weight loss trainer.
Fasting is for idiots.

Fasting is for idiots.

Repeat it again.

Fasting is for idiots.

Say it slower.

Fasting is for idiots.

Fasting is what used to be known as “crash dieting” only works for athletes and models trying to cut water before a weigh in or a shoot.

Its stupid. You’ll gain the weight back and burn yourself out in the process.

Get some tirzepatide, start doing some lifting and you’ll be good. Reduce your caloric intake gradually and the weight will drop off.
