I came back from night classes a few hours ago, algebra, hate that shit, it's just tedious now :damn:

Anyways, there's been a few Moonies lurking around the library*, I've been talking to one of them after class for a bit, this middle aged Japanese lady

She got into an arranged wedding with a Bahamian breh in the 80s alongside thousands of other arranged couples, the Moonies are huge on being "one people"

Me personally, I feel like my race and ethnicity is my religion. That's what I have faith in, I legit feel like the Civil War was a holy war and our history surpasses our mere four centuries so far.

She was reading something by the "Mother" of God, something about all people being God's children. That's how Christian cults get a lot of Black members, lovey dovey bs...

She's nice but I swear she reveals herself whenever the Chinese or "communist Jews" (her words) come up

I said and mentioned Yukio Mishima, who wrote extensively on that subconscious pride in his ancestors. She just said he was "only some light wing", I swear she does that "no speaky engrish" crap on me

I'm not joining that Korean Bible bullcrap, but I wanna see how far I can go until she gives up
:umad:

What about y'all? Anyone had to deal with strange ass religions?

*As someone who only pirated ebooks and stayed in the public library as a jit, a college library is exactly what kid me wanted

It was illegal for our great great x2 grandparents to read and write after Nat Turner's rebellion, doing this right now is something they never dreamed of doing :to:

There's so many titles I need to start scanning
:blessed:

I grew up in a religion that many outsiders would describe as a cult. But I’m not gonna talk too much on that. What I will say is that I’ve read extensively on the subject and it’s a rabbit hole that you could spend many years traveling down.
The best book I’ve read on the subject will probably be described as what some call parapolitical. The book is entitled was Jonestown a CIA experiment by Michael Meiers. It’s not a cheap book, but it is one of the deepest books I’ve ever read.
Some others:
Raven (about Jim Jones)
Cults in our midst
Love, Terror and brainwashing

Thought Reform and the Psychology of Totalism: A Study of 'brainwashing' in China

Keep in mind of the experts on Cults and caught brainwashing like Janja Laljich, Steve Hassan, Rick Alan Ross and Alexandria, Stein, and even Robert Jay Lifton are either highly suspect themselves or either CIA operatives. These people can’t hide their bias don’t acknowledge that some people have free will. Others are butt hurt and just won’t own up to their own past gullibility. As I said earlier, the rabbit hole is really really deep.

Also like to add, I’m not totally against the idea of people being involved in cults. Some cults are benign and actually do some good some for the participants. There are many people who need structure in order in their lives and what most people consider a cult is nothing more than extended family that they didn’t have or either wasn’t fulfilling the most important needs. It depends on the nature and organization and the person at the head of organization.

Most people have. I mean, Jehovah's Witnesses and Seventh-Day Adventists are cults.

If you wanna go deeper, all religions are cults:mjlol:.

To keep it 1000%, the only difference between a cult and a religion is public perception, which also factors in time:pachaha:. Cults want you to act and think a certain way, believe in an afterlife, and the concept of salvation, etc. You can pretty much mix and match what both believe in, and you'd get a match for 95-99% of it:dead:.

Edit: One key difference is that a lot of cults believe in isolating the group from the rest of society, but a lot of religions started out like that.

Since the AGE OF 3 ,I fucking hate them. They are so useless,SOULLESS AND HEARTLESS.

I can’t believe i fell in the association-cult thirst trap cycle WHEN I GREW UP AROUND THEM.

Can’t have empathy, Can’t have an open mind, can’t have fun.

They are bunch of yes men and yes women who pretend to be empath WHEN THEY DON’T RESPECT SCRIPTURES.
BIGGEST CHEATERS,LIARS,ABUSERS IN MY OWN LIFE.
And they pretend to be PURE when their biggest dream is to see you die😭
7 AM to 5 PM,you have to listen and stay in an isolated place.

I think they are the foundations of modern day cults and evangelism AND MAYBE COUSINS WITH MORMONS.:sass2:

If you wanna go, a little deeper families can operate in a cult like manner. So you can apply that to a lot of different social dynamics. you can definitely look at things like certain fraternities and sororities or even certain branches of the military and see how this plays out.

I think you might need to dig a little deeper. They are cults that are way more nefarious than religion you mentioned above. ones you mentioned above.

The process consisted of black Americans getting tired of foreign negros talkin shit about us.

I can understand your frustration, but I don’t think that has much to do with the process of cult indoctrination. I think we’re talking about two different things here.

My aunt tells some story about she knew some people involved in Jim Jones church. Apparently they were due to move to Jonestown soon after the mass suicide happened, but obviously didn't end up doing that.

My mom claims she didn't just know them but was also involved too and her dumbass probably would have ended up over there too, but now she's too ashamed to admit it

could be true, but my mom also a hater so she could just be talking shit :unimpressed:

Had a family member deep into QAnon. IT was extremely cult like. They made up the bulk of those Jan 6 rioters. QAnon was also a government psyop.
