Please put all suggestions here. I saw some good ones already like limiting politics to its own thread or forum (Politics As Usual?) so it doesn’t pollute tlr.

Also saw tighter moderation against character posters, racists and just general shit posters.
 
I think just better enforcement of compartmentalization would help. Politics go in political forum, movies go in movie forum etc.

Active mods who gotta be voted upon ever year or so with polls. But admin has final say.

Mods with ban power (mods didn’t have ban power besides Houston)

Agree we don't need multiple threads about the same shit in different forums. Idk if there's a way to have the same thread but appear in diff forums.

Like for example a thread on Shannon sharpes lawsuit instead of a coli thread and a tlr thread there's one thread that exists in both places.

I think Twitter direct links should not be allowed, that site is too racist and divisive, and we feed the beast by linking it .

I think they should be allowed but there should be a MUCH lower tolerance for shit that is obviously just gender/fba war bs or shit from known racists.

Exception would be unless op does a good iob contextualizing why it's a worthwhile thing to discuss. Too much of the TLR was just reposting shit from twitter though.
 
definitely let Religion/Spirituality have it own section.
Politics DEFINITELY need one.

and possibly sub section in the booth for beatmaking/battle rap

maybe only verified news outlets should be allowed. But even then they have their own websites which is why we should ban it all together it's all racist/divisive accounts they kept posting. Twitter now it's like clicking on a Yahoo comment section just racist shyt.
 
A big problem we had on the Coli was people in cliques pulling spiteful hate posts for the fuck off it and ruining shit for the people wasn't there for all that. Whole sections like TSC and the Arcadium would just become shit shovel sessions because Coke v Pepsi, Xbox v PS and AEW v WWE bullshit. It actually led to Vice Queen leaving the forum even though everyone loved her.

Can we please put our foots down on bullshit trolling and hate posts!

Even when they were given their own threads you had them kekeing about the other thread. I don't think it's realistic for everyone to get along but there should be a MUCH lower tolerance for thread derailment. Idk if that means there needs to be more mods.

Posters in the red should not be able to create topics,but I think neg rep should fall off little by little so posters don't feel like they'll be stuck there forever...unless you're just that trash of a poster.

I think the FBA vs everybody thing is worth discussing, but I am willing to build some rules around doing so.

It's a real and verifiable fissure in black society. It effects voting patterns. It effects our very livelihood in places like NYC, Miami, and, more recently, Houston and other southern cities.

Totally. Think there were times when it was legitimately being discussed and other times people were trolling or just trying to get their shit off. I don't think it's necessarily always easy to distinguish the two.

I think its very easy to tell the difference. A lot of times, ppl bring up certain historical occurrences bc they're repeating in the present. That's valid. If we've identified suspect behavior in the past and in the present, there should be no reason not to discuss it.
 
Allow harmless gimmick posters to stay and not get banned. Those like BrothaZay (I really hope he makes an account here as he was my fav member on TheColi), CozyCarl and Standing On Business for example were funny as hell but I guess they made the wrong mod mad and got perm'd and bushed smh It adds character to the forum I think if they stay. Also that one poster Your Welcome who would call himself correcting words just to misspell them slightly:ROFLMAO:
 
1. You need to work on a special graphic background asap that will attract new users, thecoli background is part of the appealing nature to it, get a young brother that is good on photoshop to do a nice background even if u arent settled on a name yet, than leaving it like this for weeks!

2. None of that closing registration bs.

3. No biased mods and remove the reputation system only likes or dislikes
 
dunno if it makes sense to have like yearly mod elections or whatever, really would be more of a socio-political experiment tbh

definitely get a donation thing going / maybe a pay to sign up to keep the riff raff out
 
Idk if it has already been mentioned, but a Trending/Popular threads tab. Thecoli had one a few years ago, and then it randomly disappeared and never came back. It helps put all the important threads at the moment in one place instead of having to comb through page after page of threads in tlr or the booth, etc.
 
Try to get @bnew over. He had a lot of ideas to improve thecoli and was great about finding workarounds for existing limitations. Suspect he'd a be a good resource for a forum this tis actually open to suggestions.

It could replace the surprised emoji. But if it's a reaction it should not also be a smiley.

I'd also like that tab that you can click that shows who the moderator is for each section.
