Government Shutdown News/Discussion

Not all of them. Please stop spreading conservative slop
Democrats are acting like the country elected them in 2024, to keep funding Obamacare at whatever level the Dems want. it did not :yeshrug:

i guess we'll see what they can get out of the shutdown. i don't really give a fuck, these shutdowns don't affect me at all :dead:

if the country wanted huge Obamacare subsidies extended, it would have voted for the Dems in november :yeshrug: no? is that not correct?

republicans don't want to fund it like that. i don't know what to tell you

and being that republicans run on "fuck the government", and Dems run on "government is hugely important and solves everything", this is only gonna go one way :mjlol:

Im willing to bet a great deal of red state Republicans didn't know shit about healthcare subsidies. This is why ACA was dubbed Obamacare. A lot of them support affordable healthcare, but hate the name Obama.

And not to get tinfoily (but I am), over the last 9 months I've believed more and more that trump cheated with the help of musk. He tried to cheat in 2020, but didn't have the means to do so

of course they don't. they're stupid, racist rednecks. and frankly the average american is a pretty uninformed voter in general

-no one liked biden's economy
-democrats letting him run again was a massive betrayal of the country. insulting at best, treasonous at worst. they really didn't even deserve to win in 2024, after letting that happen. i still remember my revulsion and shock after the july debate, at the state biden was in
-kamala was awful, and america hasn't even elected a white woman yet

sure, trump and elon are pieces of shit, who would cheat if they could. but it's not remotely unbelievable that trump just won :yeshrug: people wanted to go back to the pre-covid economy. enough swing voters looked past his personality, to take a shot at it

if the Democrats had any fuckin balls, they'd call the Republicans' bluff. let them blow off the Obamacare subsidy, and sit back and let the country enjoy what it voted for

america gave Trump total power. it's not the Democrats' job to try to play hero, and save the country from the consequences. THAT is the weak fuckin move here :camby:

-Don't speak for me. The economy was better off under Biden.

-Dump's stubbornness cost American lives and crippled the economy worse than it should've been because of his public refusal to acknowledge COVID. The pos made a joke of a serious pandemic while receiving treatment BTS, fuck that.

-You are right about Dems letting Biden run

-Kamala was no worse of a candidate than Trump is and was.

Pp like you will blame the Dems anyway, this time for not intervening at all

not trying to. but the economy is roughly the same today as it was in february. Trump has not caused huge damage yet. are we on the brink? sure

and the Dems fucked it up on the back end, by extending covid restrictions/spending way longer than they should have. typical liberal nanny state, "we know better than you" bullshit that people resent
-Kamala was no worse of a candidate than Trump is and was.
and if Trump had won in 2020, the Dems would have clean swept 2024 :yeshrug: the party in power post-covid, overseeing that inflation, was doomed in '24. that's why "we can't skip over kamala" was so stupid; there was NOTHING advantageous about her incumbency

this is bullshit. Dems want to keep the ACA, Republicans want to defund it. no way Republicans blame that on the Dems :dahell:

you want to bail out republicans, i want to let them govern

You babbling like a bothsider or a closeted MAGA. Whatever though

And you know damn well that letting them govern makes Dems look weaker; ppl already call them spineless. you want them to lay down and take it, which makes them look even worse. Df they supposed to do when the constituency hammers them? (rightfully so) 'oh....well....the conservatives control everything so we can't do shit :francis:' sit there and look doofy in the face when folks were already on their ass for doing just that

And you know damn well that letting them govern makes Dems look weaker
no, it puts all the focus on the republicans. lets america feel the consequences of voting for them

but hey, if you want to keep bailing them out, playing adult in the room, whatever. ironically, your strategy just makes republicans stronger in 2026. letting republicans take the credit

It's not bailing them out to force their hand when it comes to healthcare. Eff that 'let them suffer' talk. The average American ain't tryna hear all that pleighbwoi.

:patrice: im watching you crodie

but the average american voted for trump. he won the election :dahell:

i can tell that you'd never admit it, but maybe obamacare needs to be blown up and redone. if it needs huge covid-era subsidies to remain realistic, instead of a laughable joke of a program, then maybe it's time we give healthcare another shot in a new form :yeshrug:

i thought progressives don't even like obamacare, because it's not free healthcare for all :dead:

To be clear, polling shows Republicans are being blamed for the shutdown and Dems position of holding out to keep healthcare costs from ballooning is popular. Dems already tried sitting back and capitulating to Repubs, and it polled negatively, and drove the party approval rating underwater. They were already forced to abandon that strategy months ago due to the backlash. Public pressure is literally forcing their hand, and this charlatan really thinks he can convince people the opposite is true.

All the things this dimwitted white supremacist is calling for are just his personal beliefs he is trying to disguise as popular consensus. Only MAGA agrees with him, the rest of the population does not.
