My Conversion To Judaism Is Almost Complete (I Will Be FINISHED This Year)

Only reason why I went Conservative is because the Orthodox synagogue never contacted me back. I called them six times in 2021. They always promised to reach out to me, but never did.

BECAUSE ITS A TEST OF WILL

YOU HAVE TO PURSUE IT LIKE IT MEANS THE WORLD TO YOU IF IT TRULY DOES

IF U GENUINELY WANT IT, YOU WILL FIND A WAY TO MAKE IT HAPPEN

IF U CALL 6 TIMES AND THEY DONT REACH BACK OUT, U CALL 6 MORE

IF THAT DOESNT WORK, U DRIVE OUT THERE PERSONALLY .. DO WHATEVER IT TAKES UNTIL YOU FIND A WAY

U GOTA SHOW YOUR SERIOUSNESS AND DETERMINATION TO TORAH BEFORE BEING CONSIDERED

ALSO, WHERE ARE U LOCATED? THERE ARE NOT MANY CONVERTING ORTHODOX RABBIS IN THE U.S.. THAT MIGHT BE IT TOO. BUT THAT DOESNT MEAN U STOP THERE. WHERE THERES A WILL THERES A WAY.

I did all of that. My Rabbi told me that they weren't going to get in touch with me. Israel accepts Conservative conversions, so I'm good. I really don't want to go back and forth on this.

ITS ALL GOOD.. DO YOUR THANG HOMIE

AS FOR ISRAEL ACCEPTING CONSERVATIVE CONVERTS, YES AND NO

YOU WILL BE ACCEPTED FOR LAW OF RETURN POLITICALLY, BUT NOT ACCEPTED BY THE RABBINCAL COURTS AND CHIEF RABBI RELIGIOUSLY.

I was circumcised when I was born.
yeah not trying to bring it there :dame:

but i heard stories about adults converting before and having that done. seems crazy.

anyway i don't hate on anyone for their religion. i got no problems with the jewish faith anymore than i do any other, just the state of Israel.

good luck in your faith journey.

cutting something off that "grows out of you, and tries to encapsulate your entire head"

is an allegory to why belief in something other than yourself is superior to "self-trust"

and that is besides the health benefit

OH.. SO YOURE CONVERTING WITH A CONSERVATIVE RABBI?

NOT ORTHODOX?

YOU KNOW THIS ISNT ACCEPTED BASED ON HALAKHA, CORRECT?
Oh.. good catch! Yeah, thats a problem. I did mention, just to be safe, that
...only a properly convened (read: orthodox) beіt din can preform gіyyur kahalachah. Any gentile who is seriously and sincerely considering gіyyur will need to relocate to such a place prior to embarking upon any action at all connected with such a venture as it will not be possible unless he is already living in a place where there are Jews.

Go to a different one. There is no shortage of Orthodox bateі k'neset. And, if you want to be taken seriously, show up in person. Do not call.

I did all of that. My Rabbi told me that they weren't going to get in touch with me. Israel accepts Conservative conversions, so I'm good. I really don't want to go back and forth on this.
M'dіnat Yіsrael accepts lots of non-halachic things. Dont believe it. You will need a giyyur l'humrah by an Orthodox beit din if you go the Conservative route.

P.S. you do know that there's a Black Hebrew Tabernacle too right? It's a few minutes from my house and I've been there before. Good service and they teach that African Americans are also from the book.

William Saunders Crowdy was the founder and is a prophet according to them. I personally don't believe that though. I follow Conservative Judaism.

Yeah I do know. What has the Black Hebrew Tabernacle done for Black people outside their congregations outside of missionary work?

Every group exposed to the Bible has a fringe element that believes they're jews: cacs, asians, natives, and unfortunately a lot of our own

Even if you speak their phlegmy language and wear their little hats, you'll never erase your true Black, western heritage

Again, that's our job to do something for the condition of Black people. I go to shul to worship the L-rd.

How are your white jew brothers helping your actual people? If you were praying with people who looked like you, then I'd understand

Your reading comprehension must be off. I've continually stated that that's our job. Also, you are deflecting. The thread is about me converting. You're making this political. It shows you have a bias against people who are Jews.

I just want you to tell me how willingly becoming a conservative jew isn't just being ashamed of your Black heritage

Religion and politics mix, my race is my religion but I still appreciate African-American Protestantism as a part of my nation's unique heritage

I don't have a bias, I have xenophobic feelings towards jews

I have continuously stated that I am an AA who descends from the Igbo in Nigeria. If I hated my Blackness I wouldn't own a RBG Flag nor acknowledge my Igbo heritage. Conservative Judaism is a moderate form of Judaism. It's not like being Conservative like political Conservatism. We're mainly moderates.

I appreciate Ethiopian Christianity as a Non Christian.

I didn't say your Blackness, I said your heritage, your Nation. You're discarding your Black western identity for some improbable Igbo-jew one, it's sad

If I thought you were talking about being politically conservative I would've said that

Yet not your own people's, your actual people's

There's African American Jews, so no I'm not discarding my heritage.

Okay, just wanted to make sure you understood what I meant.

Cush was mentioned in the Bible and that's African. We can agree to disagree on that.

There's African-American Hare Krishna's and Sikhs too, that doesn't mean they're proud of themselves :manny:

No we can't, you're bringing up a random place in the old world like it means anything

Where is Kush today and what does that have to do with Black ethnicities a little over four hundred years old?

There were Modern Israelites in the African continent going back centuries. Brining up Sikhs and Hindus isn't a good argument because those religions are indigenous to India.

Kush is modern day Ethiopia.

Are the Igbo from Ethiopia? Are the Igbo even related to the various peoples from Ethiopia?

Outside of AAs and WIs mobilizing to help build the country in various points in time post-slavery, what does East Africa have to do with our West African ancestors?

West, Central, and East Africa.

Judaism is indigenous to the Levant. However, the Israelites are scattered among the four corners of the Earth

No, the Igbo are not from Ethiopia. Ethiopia isn't the only place where the Israelites were located.

Nothing really.

You're not an israelite and have no connection to any African area mentioned in the Bible, you're just ashamed of being African-American

AND THATS THE ISSUE

YOU SHOULD UNEQUIVOCALLY LOVE YOUR RACE .. BUT YOU PRAY TO YOUR COMPLEXION? AND U DONT SEE THE PROBLEM WITH THAT??
Don't talk to me jewboy

This is retarded and you know it. Again, if I was ashamed of being AA I would not have an RBG Flag. What is your source for me.not being an Israelite since you apparently know so much? Back your sources.

Pitiful

P.S. African Americans aren't a monolith.

The RBG flag is a racial flag, not an ethnic one. You're proud of the flat Blackness you subscribe to.

My sources are you not being able to tell me:
Where are your ancestors in any of the Old Testament?

Where are your ancestors in the Levant from?

No group's a monolith, but we share a common amalgamation of West/Central African nations and a distinct heritage that was formed in the Western world

Like I said, the Israelites were scattered throughout the four corners of the Earth. Flat Blackness :mjlol: Imma pray for you breh because you definitely need it.

Where are your ancestors in the Levant from? The Israelites were scattered but they knew their original tribes, which one was yours?

If you're unwilling to embrace the differences between the hundreds of Black ethnicities out there, you're practicing flat Blackness :manny:

The Igbos descend from the tribe of Gad.

You made a claim, I asked you to show me the source, where does it say the Igbo people of Nigeria descend from Gad?

So, you claim to know more of who the Igbo are than they do themselves? Man, you are so arrogant and conceited that's it's pathetic.

has any Igbo reached out to you to come to them?

every person i know that is naturally from the USA and has traveled to Africa with the mindset that they are the same kind of kinfolk get a bad wake up call

not that they are bad people but many of them have no distinct interest in black americans outside of their culture

race has nothing to do with religion, and the secret of modern judaism is Ghengis Khan

when they burned down Susa (in modern day Iran) they saved many of the Jews there and incorporated them into the horde. They made the nobles drink molten gold and burned all the libraries. And thats a myth of the tribe of Tatars that would become the Ashkenazi 100s of years later

I absolutely don't think all Black people are the same :mjlol: , I've made the case for acknowledging both race (Black) and nation (AA, Igbo)

not that they are bad people but many of them have no distinct interest in black americans outside of their culture

I know that, I feel the exact same way about them, we're continents away

Yeah that explains a bit about them :skip:

Well, I have changed a lot since I've came into the religion. I don't curse, disrespect, and etc. Judaism I know takes a lot and I'm up for it. I changed a lot of my old habits.

you don't need religion to justify not using profanity or choosing to be a more respectful person.. :gucci:

Could be. The Igbos said themselves that they descend from Gad not my words :imean:
im always confused by anyone saying they claim to descend from xyz tribe

because of this line here:

then there is this one

shouldnt it be: they descend from Ephraim and Manasseh? since they (Jacobs grandchildren) were blessed before Jacob's sons?

@Koichos if they are Joseph's spies...the war with Gilead makes sense

that sounds right

but where did Legalism originate? if not for religion?

there are many people who do whatever they like as long as they arent caught, and then when caught they say how can I be acquitted

rather than just not do wrongs

Igbos have an oral history and no one takes the Messianic group of Jewish Voice seriously. Listen, to Harry Rosenberg and Remy Ilona
Don't Jews have a written tradition too? Where are the old, Igbo Torah scrolls?

This Igbo writer has two other articles countering his kith and kin's claims of semitic descent

The Code of Hammurabi predates judeo-christian beliefs.

The Code of Hammurabi predates judeo-christian beliefs.

but when you are born, is there someone to communicate the code of hammurabi to you?

which got to you first, hammurabi or Moses?

im always confused when I see people use the argument: "This other thing is either as old or older than Abrahamic faith, so it should have more authority"

this isnt just silly, but its a dangerous logic if you try to apply it to more than just belief. So the issue isnt what it says, but rather "why should something I didn't author have authority over me"

but thats not how this works (see above post about Ephraim and Manasseh)

Religion helps. Some people need religion and I'm one who does. My life was in complete chaos before Judaism.

NO, some people are convinced they need religion because organized religion exploits their emotions, ignorance and the innate human desire for community.
