The Essential Anime Thread

@Jmare007

After S2, I really wouldn't jump on the manga unless you really want to read the series no matter what. Art in the manga does not touch how good the visuals are in the anime.

The main issue is the author & artist are consistently on hiatus to a really high degree. I expect a movie to come out for the arc that follows S2. Leaving the current arc, which is long, is really a bad time to get into the manga, imo. As long as you can avoid spoilers. Tbh it is more worth to stick to being anime-only at this point.

Props breh. Knowing me, it will depend on how big of a cliffhanger S2 ends with. I thought I was going to jump on the manga after S1 and Vinland Saga S2 but both seasons had very clear endings so I was more than ok waiting for the anime. It's when there's shit I "need" to know how it continues/resolves that I jump in.

Damn, Mappa is cashing in big here. They are making more than UFO is getting from Demon Slayer since CSM is fully funded by them. It seems wild that, according to leaks, they are doing the rest of Part 2 in S2. Since they could divide the rest into two movies and maybe an ONA for the stuff between the next 2 arcs.

SxF S3 - Episode 2

Man, they're going in by the end of the episode.

I really liked how they started the flashback mid-episode. We see Anya's life at school, and the worst thing that we see is Anya getting a Tonitrus Bolt. Then we get to the 2nd half, and the worst thing happening for Loid's childhood is being attacked. Quite a big difference.

So basically for the anime Gnosia the idea is basically Among Us
:skip:

Though the use of travel back in time has me curious. Visuals look very solid and works well.

Just gonna c/p what I posted on theColi cause I don't have more thoughts on it than the Infinity Castle movie:

Animation :ohlawd:

Fights :whoo:

Score :damn: :blessed:

Pacing :ld:

Flashbacks :patrice:

I get why they put so much effort in explaining backstories but it still felt too damn long. I hope the 2nd and 3rd film dial back on them because the thing I liked the most from this final arc in the manga was the fast pace and just unrelenting action and big moments/fights to the finish...and this film put a stop to that and felt way more like a first third of an anime season crunched together for a movie.

But like DS always does, the positives are so incredibly well made that it's still dope to watch.

I think they plan to air each of the movies in a season format. With explains why the movie was almost 3 hours long.

I only had a real issue with the final flashback. That was beyond egregious

Just saw "100 Meters" in theaters. Which is written by the Orb author. Despite this being about a sport that is running the 100 meters. How the story is written really emphasizes this is the same style that he used in Orb. Just used in an entirely different setting, which makes it even more impressive to me.

In terms of visuals and direction, it was a step up from Orb, which makes sense comparing a 24-episode season to a movie, as the latter will have the advantage. It delivered on the big moments and turned into a very thinking- and dialogue-centric anime. If you loved Orb, then you will very likely love this too.

Will do a rewatch of it when it is available to be streamed.
